Tashkent, August 6, 2025 – Teach For Uzbekistan, in partnership with the American University of Technology, held a Certificate Awarding Ceremony for its graduating second cohort of Fellows. The event marked the completion of an intensive four-week Summer Institute and the beginning of the Fellows’ two-year journey as educators and leaders in schools in Kaskadarya and Surkhandarya.
The ceremony opened with welcoming speeches from Nozimakhon Davletova, Consultant to the Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Teach For Uzbekistan, and Dr. Said Irandoust, Founding Rector of the American University of Technology.
Remarks were also shared by Erkin Murodov, Head of the Department for Coordination of General Secondary Education Institutions, and Zokhidjon Atakhonov, Head of Department at the Central Office of the Youth Affairs Agency.
31 graduating Fellows received certificates, marking the start of their two-year teaching and leadership journey in Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to key partners, including the Youth Affairs Agency, American University of Technology, and volunteers who supported the program.
Before the event concluded, the university hosted a campus tour for Ms. Davletova, highlighting its facilities and ongoing collaboration with Teach For Uzbekistan. This was followed by an informal conversation with the Fellows, offering space for reflection and encouragement as they prepare to enter real classrooms.
Summer Institute
The Summer Institute is a rigorous training program designed to equip participants with practical teaching, leadership, and communication skills. Held in a residential, full-immersion format in the scenic Bostanlyk mountains, this year’s Institute gathered 39 candidates – graduates of leading national and international universities. The program featured workshops with local and international experts, classroom simulations, and real-world teaching practice through a summer camp for children from low-income families.
“Teach For Uzbekistan is not just a program – it’s a community of people committed to changing children's lives through the power of education,” said Umida Yuldosheva, Founder and CEO of Teach For Uzbekistan. “We are proud of every Fellow and excited to see them begin their journeys — including, for the first time, in the Surkhandarya region.”
About the Program
Teach For Uzbekistan is a national education initiative that prepares and supports talented young professionals to work as teachers in comparatively underserved schools. Its mission is to ensure that every child in Uzbekistan, regardless of geography or background, has access to a quality education and the opportunity to thrive.
