Dr. Mohammed Awad

Dr. Mohammed Awad is an Iraqi Canadian Engineer with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University, Canada. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Digital Technologies, American University of Technology in Tashkent (powered by Arizona State University). He was an Adjunct Professor, Curriculum Development Specialist, and Associate Professor at Lambton & Conestoga Colleges in Canada, respectively. Previously, he served as the Acting Dean of the School of Engineering at Samarkand International University of Technology, Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

Before his PhD studies, he worked in the oil and gas industry as a Wireline Logging Engineer at Schlumberger Limited. Dr. Awad’s research expertise lies in advanced statistical and mathematical methods, polymer chemistry, polymerization kinetics, and sustainable materials processing, with applications spanning environmental remediation, wastewater treatment, therapeutics, and drug delivery systems. His academic and industrial experiences include postdoctoral research at the University of Waterloo and Western University, as well as senior scientist roles in Canada, where he developed green technologies for high-performance polymers and advanced analytical methods.

He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, secured prestigious fellowships (including the Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship, Mitacs Accelerate/Elevate, and OCI), and established international collaborations in polymer processing, bioplastics, and food/agricultural technologies. Moreover, he has obtained more than $500,000 CAD in competitive research funding.
