U.S. Embassy and American University of Technology Launch Flagship American Corner in Tashkent—Open to All

Tashkent, Uzbekistan – August 30, 2025 – The American University of Technology (AUT) and the U.S. Embassy are proud to announce the grand opening of the American Corner Tashkent, a cutting-edge hub for public engagement, innovation, and educational excellence, open to all members of the public.

This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to enhancing access to world-class educational resources and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement. This bold new initiative highlights America’s enduring commitment to strengthening the U.S.- Uzbekistan partnership through world-class educational collaborations and dynamic programs. As the global leader in science, technology, and innovation, the United States continues to shape the future—and the American Corner Tashkent offers Uzbek citizens direct access to this vision.

Strategically located on the AUT campus, the 150-square-meter space is designed to showcase American excellence and innovation while inspiring collaboration, curiosity, and creativity. The new space features:

A dynamic event room to showcase public programs such as interactive workshops, lectures from American experts, English language classes and discussion groups, and business and tech-focused training that will be open to students, professionals, educators, and youth.

A flexible activities room that will support small-group projects, academic advising, language study, and exploration of U.S. educational opportunities, inviting visitors to learn from American expertise.

A casual lounge for conversations, games, and study. Visitors will benefit from access to state-of-the-art technology—including laptops, 3D printers, virtual reality equipment, and high-speed internet—to fuel hands-on learning and experimentation. The space also features a curated collection of English-language books on science, American history and culture, leadership, and entrepreneurship, plus free access to eLibraryUSA, an expansive U.S. digital resource platform.

The American Corner Tashkent will host regular programs that highlight American excellence through English language clubs, digital skills workshops, maker sessions, and entrepreneurship training—all aimed at preparing Uzbekistan’s next generation of leaders to succeed in the 21st century and partner with the United States.

At the opening event, U.S. Ambassador Jonathan Henick, Founder and Chairman of Cintana Education Douglas L. Becker, and President of Cintana Education Rick Shangraw delivered remarks celebrating this milestone. The program included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to cement this high-impact partnership.

“This American Corner is a testament to the powerful partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan,” said Ambassador Henick. “By spotlighting American innovation, we are building a future rooted in excellence, collaboration, and mutual respect.” The U.S. Embassy’s American Corner at AUT will offer year-round programming to foster innovation, collaboration, and cross-cultural dialogue with implementing support by American Councils. The American Corner Tashkent joins a growing network of American Spaces that help local communities connect with the United States.
